What is 3D animation?
3D animation is the art of bringing digital objects to life. In contrast to static 3D visualizations, models, cameras and lights move in space and time – and tell a story in the process.
The basics
3D animations are created by positioning three-dimensional models in virtual space, moving them and filming them via a camera. The animators follow precisely defined key frames – key positions between which the computer automatically calculates all intermediate steps. The result is a cinematic sequence that can look just as realistic as real footage – or be deliberately stylized and creatively designed.
